ChatGPT is an AI chatbot developed by OpenAI based on GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 families of large language models (LLMs) and has been fine-tuned using both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques⁶. It has a remarkable ability to interact in conversational dialogue form and provide responses that can appear surprisingly human¹. When a user inputs a prompt or question, ChatGPT uses its training data to generate a response that is similar to what a human might say in that context³.
